I was amongst the first group of African American children in the city of Seattle, who were officially bused daily to schools that were fifteen miles away from our homes. Supposedly, busing was the answer to close the racially charged segregated educational gap for the Seattle School system.
My aunt (yes, we are the same age. Lol.) and I went to the same school and we had to get up each morning at five thirty in order to take two city buses to the get to the school bus to be on time for the nine-o’clock class.
